The films being screened over 10 days are also complemented by panel discussions that are part of our initiative, Infrastructure Building for Minds and Markets (IBM2). IBM2 brings a unique array of seminars and debates to discuss issues, analyze trends and explore the future of creative and business aspects of cinema. This year, these discussions and debates will focus on the models and processes of ‘Institution Building’ with special focus on The Osianama, the unique cultural complex being built by Osian’s, on the one hand and Writing and Cinema on the other. image

  Highlights of Talent Campus India 5, 2008

Masterclasses by Paul Schrader

This year as a festival highlight we have sessions by Paul Schrader, one of Hollywood’s most famous screenplay writers. He is best known for writing the screenplay of Taxi Driver (1976) one of the most famous films ever made. These very special IBM2 sessions are a once in a lifetime opportunity. Talents will get to be a part of these sessions on New Media and Screenplay writing.

Masterclass on New Media In this session Schrader will speak on the 20th century notion of  cinema and the forces in play that are changing these notions.He will also talk about the direction and shape that audio visual entertainment will take in the future.

Masterclass on Screenwriting In this special session Schrader will analyse the elements of a story in a script and the metaphors found  in one’s own life that in one’s own life that can be turned into powerful and compelling screenplays. He will also examine his personal approach in his craft and his evolution as a screenwriter.

One-on-one with guest experts for the Talents

In our effort to provide one-on-one interactions with the guest experts for the participants this year, we have devised a unique critique session. Six experts will give their time as mentors to the participants of Talent Campus Indiathe table either their finished work or work-in-progress of either a script or a film. Each participant will sign up for a half-hour interactive session with one mentor. This way one mentor will critique the work of five participants.

The filmmakers who will be playing mentors to the participants are:

K Hariharan, Nick Deocampo, Jaydeep Sarkar, Bina Paul Venugopal, Jian Yi, and Auraeus Solito.
